Community Giving
Part of being a repsonsible business means contributing to the communities in which we operate and society at large. In 2007, Wolters Kluwer donated over €631,000 to different initiatives. Additionally, we offer our expertise, products, and time to contribute positively to many initiatives that further human progress.
Education & Health
Our charitable initiatives are streamlined to focus on two core themes which are central to the company’s value creation: sharing knowledge and improving both healthcare and access to healthcare.
Projects
We foster deep and longstanding relationships with many community organizations and non-profits. Some of our community giving projects include:
|
School Lunches
In December 2008 we began a 3-year partnership with Plan Netherlands to support School Lunches. This important program provides a daily, healthy school lunch and nutrition training to children in Ghana and Uganda.

Health InterNetwork Access to Research Initiative (HINARI)
Launched in 2002 by the World Health Organization, Wolters Kluwer Health was one of the founding partners for this initiative. This online resource provides free or low cost access to major medical and social sciences research journals to not-for-profit institutions in developing countries. This service benefits thousands of health workers and researchers across the globe.
4th Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Global Paper Forum
We contributed to the 4th FSC Global Paper Forum in Düsseldorf, Germany, in June 2008. The Forest Stewardship Council is a non-profit organization that promotes the responsible management of the world’s forests. They provide certification and accreditation services for companies and organizations interested in responsible forestry.
War Trauma Foundation (WTF)
Wolters Kluwer supports the WTF by publishing Intervention, its international journal of mental health, psychosocial work and counseling in areas of armed conflict. Intervention is an essential tool for spreading the latest information gained from the experience of fieldworkers, so that their findings can inspire and support others carrying out similar interventions.
Operation Ear Drop Foundation
As a gift from the 2007 Annual General Meeting of the Shareholders, Wolters Kluwer donated €20,000 to Operation Eardrop, a voluntary organization dedicated to meeting the needs of deaf and hearing impaired children in Kenya.
