5 Lippincott Williams & Wilkins Journals Honored Among the 100 Most Influential Biology and Medical Journals of the Past 100 Years at the Special Libraries Association (SLA) Annual Meeting

New York, NY (June 30, 2009) – Ovid, part of Wolters Kluwer Health, and a global leader in the development and delivery of customizable electronic research information for the medical, healthcare and academic markets, is pleased to announce that 27 journals from Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) and other premium publishers, such as Elsevier, Oxford University Press, BMJ, and Wiley-Blackwell, have been selected as among the 100 most influential biology and medical journals of the past 100 years by the Special Libraries Association (SLA) Biomedical and Life Sciences Division (DBIO). The selected journals were honored at the SLA’s recent Annual Meeting, held in Washington, DC, on June 16th.

“We are thrilled and proud that so many of the journals recognized - roughly a quarter of the total list - are available on OvidSP,” said Karen Abramson, President & CEO of Ovid. “As a leading aggregator of online scholarly research, we provide our customers with tremendous depth and breadth of content from the world’s premium publishers and information providers. This list simply underscores our commitment to the medical and scientific communities as their first choice for premium, peer-reviewed full-text content.”

Five of the journals honored are published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, which is also part of Wolters Kluwer Health. These include AJN: American Journal of Nursing, Circulation, Neurology, Anesthesia & Analgesia, and Critical Care Medicine. Four of these titles are published with the support of important medical societies, which is critical to their value and popularity among the medical community. Neurology is the official publication of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN); Anesthesia & Analgesia is the official scientific publication of the International Anesthesia Research Society; Critical Care Medicine is the official publication of the Society of Critical Care Medicine; and Circulation is published in cooperation with the American Heart Association.
