Dr. R. Gary Sibbald Named Clinical Associate Editor of Advances in Skin & Wound Care Journal

(Philadelphia, PA - May 22, 2006) R. Gary Sibbald, BSc, MD, FRCPC (Med) (Derm), FAPWCA, MEd, has been named Clinical Associate Editor of Advances in Skin & Wound Care journal. The multidisciplinary professional journal is published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, part of Wolters Kluwer Health.
"Dr. Sibbald's commitment to furthering the care of patients with wounds worldwide is well known in the wound care community, and it dovetails nicely with the editorial mission of Advances in Skin & Wound Care," said Susan Doan-Johnson, the journal's publisher. As the chairman of the 3rd Congress of the World Union of Wound Healing Societies, to be held June 4-8, 2008, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Dr. Sibbald is the driving force behind an effort to build the first comprehensive summary of the wound care evidence base. The goal is to collect and analyze data on wound care practice around the world, then distill this information into a user-friendly format for distribution at the meeting. Dr. Sibbald is also the president-elect of the World Union of Wound Healing Societies.

At the University of Toronto, Dr. Sibbald is currently a Professor of Medicine and the Director of Continuing Medical Education in the Department of Medicine, with a cross-appointment to the Department of Public Health Sciences, as well as the director of the university's International Interdisciplinary Wound Care Course. A fellow of The Royal College of Physicians of Canada, Dr. Sibbald is board certified in internal medicine and dermatology. He is the cofounder and past chair of the Canadian Association of Wound Care. Recently, Dr. Sibbald was honored with the 2006 Symposium on Advanced Wound Care Founders Award.
